The basics
What is KEXBI?
KEXBI is a nutrition app for iPhone that connects your ambition with what you eat. Your body, goals and scheduled week give the calculations their context. The chef turns calculated ingredients and portions into dishes shaped by your tastes, with meals, drinks, workout fuel, preparation and shopping brought together.
Who is it for?
People working towards a goal who want food they enjoy to support it. That includes losing fat, building muscle, maintaining, getting stronger and preparing for an event. Runners, lifters and people fitting training around work and family should all be able to recognise themselves.
How is it different from a calorie tracker?
A tracker helps you record intake; some also adjust your targets. KEXBI carries the work into the food itself: nutritional requirements for the day and its meals, ingredient amounts, dishes, timing and preparation. You get a week you can follow, and you do not have to log every meal.
See how your performance team builds the food →How is it different from MacroFactor?
MacroFactor uses food and weight history to estimate expenditure and recommend calorie and macro targets. It also supports different allocations across the week. KEXBI can refine its estimates from sufficient recorded history too, then connects the targets to planned meals, ingredient portions, timing, preparation and shopping.
Compare the work included →Is it a diet app?
Fat loss is one of the goals, alongside maintenance, lean gain and recomp. The food is also planned around your training and everyday energy needs. Your goal is considered within the rest of your life, with planning limits and the working available to inspect.
Is it medical advice?
No. KEXBI is software, not a dietitian or registered nutritionist, and not medical advice. If you have a medical condition, talk to your doctor first.
How the plan is built
How does KEXBI build my week?
It starts with a strategy for the week, using your goal, training schedule and food and cooking preferences. That strategy guides the individual days.
Each day has energy and nutrient targets, then allocations for meals and applicable workout fuel. Timing and food suitability help determine which ingredients fit each part of the day and in what amounts.
The chef works with those calculated ingredients, your tastes and cooking choices to make dishes and instructions. Preparation and shopping bring the week together. You can inspect the reasons, calculations and research references behind the plan.
How does it work out my calories?
It starts from your resting burn. If it knows your body fat, it uses an equation based on lean mass (Cunningham). If not, it uses Mifflin-St Jeor. It then adds your daily life and your training, day by day.
How does it learn my real maintenance calories?
With enough consistent intake and weigh-in data, KEXBI can refine its estimate of your maintenance needs. Weight changes, logging gaps and day-to-day variation affect that estimate.
How does food change for running, lifting and rest days?
Your goal, training focus and scheduled sessions shape each day's energy, protein, carbohydrate and fat. A mixed week can include food for lifting, running and rest without you setting a separate target for each day.
The demands of each session help shape the food and any workout fuel around it. Rest days still include meals for your everyday energy needs and recovery.
See how training shapes your food →What are the eleven moments?
Every food is scored for eleven moments of the day, six of them around training. That’s how the right food lands at the right time: for example, a slow-digesting protein is kept away from the meal before a hard morning.
Does KEXBI plan food for my working day too?
Yes. Everyday activity and your body goal are part of the day's energy estimate, alongside training. Meals and drinks are planned through the day, so the plan covers work and life around your sessions as well as the workouts.
Explore six illustrative days →How does KEXBI decide when I eat?
Meals, drinks and applicable workout fuel are placed around when you wake, your confirmed sessions and your intended bedtime. This is what KEXBI means by chrononutrition: timing food around your day.
See a day timed →How does KEXBI consider digestion before training?
The plan considers the food, portion and time available before your session when choosing a meal or snack. An estimate of how long food stays in the stomach helps it choose food that fits that window.
Digestion timing is modelled, not measured in your body.
See how food is timed around training →Does AI set my numbers?
KEXBI uses numerical calculations for energy, nutrient targets and ingredient amounts, with software specialists coordinating the plan and the chef producing culinary guidance. Published research informs the relevant calculations and planning rules; you can open their working and sources.
The system includes 370 catalogued rules, 112 calculation entries and 95 nutrition source entries. Those are inventories, not a claim that every item runs on each meal or that every rule has been independently clinically validated.
How does the chef cook my meals?
The chef receives planned foods, quantities and preparation information, together with your taste preferences and cooking choices. Cooking skills help turn that brief into a dish with instructions for making it.
Nutritional calculations and culinary work have different jobs: the amounts must meet the plan, and the meal needs to make sense as food. You do the cooking.
Safety
What safety limits does KEXBI use?
The plan is checked against limits for energy and nutrients. These are planning rules, not a guarantee of individual safety.
What is energy availability, and why does it matter?
Energy availability estimates the energy left for your body after exercise, relative to fat-free mass. You can review daily estimates and the information behind them. Where food records are insufficient, the estimate may use prescribed intake rather than what you actually ate. It is one way to examine how fuelling and a fat-loss goal fit together, not a measurement of your body or a guarantee of safety.
What are the nine checks?
The checks compare the saved food with the plan’s targets and constraints. They cover protein range, carbohydrate floor and energy allowance, fat share, planned fluid, macro and calorie arithmetic, an anchor meal, coverage across the day and unresolved constraints.
Energy availability, fibre and sodium appear when the relevant fields are available, so the number shown can vary. Open the individual results to see the figures, shortfalls and recorded limits. Passing the numerical checks does not assess every aspect of a meal’s cooking or suitability for you.
How has KEXBI been tested?
KEXBI is tested through calculation checks, saved-plan reviews and comparisons using defined example profiles. Those reviews examine the inputs, targets and resulting food.
We have also compared selected outputs from other tools and a chatbot. Those were internal tests of particular versions, settings and examples, not a clinical trial or proof that KEXBI is safer than every alternative. A result from one example does not guarantee the result of every plan.
Can I use it for weight loss?
Yes. Your fat-loss goal is considered alongside your training, protein and everyday energy needs. The plan applies limits to the intended deficit and shows when goals and fuelling requirements conflict. It cannot guarantee a particular rate of loss or that no muscle will be lost.
Who isn’t KEXBI built for yet?
We say so plainly. It isn’t built yet for:
If one of these is you, talk to your doctor first.
Wearables, and when the day changes
Does KEXBI need a wearable?
No. It works without one, and does more with one. Without one, it plans from your training schedule and your own check-ins, so the plan adapts less often.
Which wearables connect?
Apple Health, Whoop, Oura, Withings and Strava connect directly.
What does KEXBI do with my sleep?
Available sleep and recovery information can inform a review of your plan. Where a change is proposed, see the reason and what it would alter. Future days are initially planned from the schedule and information available now.
What happens if a workout moves, gets added or runs long?
Change it in the app, or let your watch record it, and KEXBI offers to rebuild the rest of the day’s food around it. You choose whether to take it. It never rebuilds on its own.
Does it trust my watch’s calorie burn?
Not blindly. KEXBI records which app wrote each workout number, because Apple Health is a pipe, not a source. It checks the number against an independent model, tested on 544 workouts from our own users. Each workout gives two numbers: one for the safety checks and one to compare today against the plan.
Does KEXBI change my training?
No. KEXBI changes your food, not your training. If you’d like, it can build a training plan back from your race day (base, build, peak and taper), and that plan is yours to edit.
Food, shopping and prep
Do I have to log my food?
No. You don’t need to log anything to follow the plan. Log a change when you want the rest of the day to account for what you actually ate. Miss a few days and nothing breaks.
Do I have to eat exactly what the app says?
No. You can eat something different and record it. That adds context to your intake; following the plan does not require you to log every meal.
How does the shopping list work?
The list combines the ingredient quantities required by your planned meals. Your Pantry preferences guide food choices; check what you already have before you shop.
Can I batch cook?
Yes. Choose two cook-ups a week or cook fresh. Batch meals follow Food Standards Agency guidance on how long food keeps. Each prep meal arrives as a hot box to reheat and cold items to add after, with the steps in order.
How much cooking is involved?
As much as you choose. Two cook-ups a week can cover most of your meals, with each step in order, its timer and the food-safety cue you can see; or cook fresh each day. Some meals and snacks need no cooking at all.
How do taste and kitchen preferences work?
Your nutritional needs set the ingredient amounts. Your preferred foods, flavours and cooking choices help shape the ingredients and the chef's dishes, so eating for your goal can still reflect the food you enjoy.
Pantry is a set of food preferences, not a live inventory of what is in your kitchen.
See meals and kitchen choices →Does KEXBI handle allergies?
If you switch on an allergy, intolerance or religious restriction, KEXBI limits your plan to foods in your pantry. Without those restrictions, Pantry+ and Surprise me can introduce new foods. Keeping your pantry right for you is your responsibility: before you cook or eat, check the label on the pack in your hand against your own allergies, intolerances and religious requirements.
Where product labels list allergens, we show them as content labels, not safety guarantees. Label data can be wrong, out of date or different from the pack on your shelf, and we can’t see cross-contact, traces or a manufacturer changing a recipe. KEXBI won’t remove pantry items for you, and it isn’t a medical device.
Will it save me money?
It might. One Cohort 001 tester, a personal trainer, found his weekly shop about £30 cheaper. That’s one person’s experience, not a typical result.
Water and sleep
How much water, and when?
Your plan sets amounts for routine hydration and, separately, workout drinks. Routine drinks are spread across your waking day and taper towards bedtime. Late training can still call for drinks and mixing water.
See hydration through the day →Does every drink count the same?
Read the planned water and other drinks together. Water used to mix a fuel drink contributes to planned fluid; the amount planned is separate from the amount you consume.
How much can I drink during a long workout?
Workout carbohydrate, fluid and sodium use different calculations. The session, products and available sweat information help shape practical amounts; the plan does not measure your personal absorption limit.
Does it plan food before bed?
Sometimes. When the day's plan includes an evening protein feed, it is placed before your intended bedtime. Other days have no separate pre-bed food.
See food and recovery across the evening →Price, access and data
How much does it cost?
£19.99 a month, or £199 a year (£16.58 a month). Your first week is free: you subscribe through the App Store, and after seven days the plan you chose starts unless you cancel. Turn off auto-renew at least a day before the week ends and you pay nothing. There’s one price with everything included, and safety is never sold separately.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone on iOS 26 or later, and a kitchen scale. A wearable is strongly recommended.
Why iPhone only?
We’re starting where your training data already lives, in Apple Health and on the iPhone. KEXBI needs iOS 26 or later. Android follows once the core system is stable.
Which countries are included at launch?
The United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland and Canada, from November 2026. Other countries will follow.
When can I use it?
KEXBI opens to everyone in November 2026. Cohort 002, the last test group, is testing it now. Leave your email and we’ll tell you the day it opens.
Where can I see what’s fixed, new and coming?
On Fixed and coming. Every release lists what changed in the app and behind your plan, what was fixed, and the ideas we’d like your view on. When something a tester suggested ships, it says so.
What data do you collect?
We read the health and activity data your plan needs, such as sleep, heart-rate variability and the energy you burn, from Apple Health and any of Whoop, Oura, Withings and Strava you connect. Your data is never sold, and it’s never used to train public AI models. It exists only to run your plan.
